Still need a reason to learn about defending your home and your family? How about being attacked by a man with a machete at your own home?

Tuscaloosa law enforcement officials said that home invasion suspect Daniel Pearman approached a man and his wife with a machete as they were having breakfast on their back porch.

The husband said he struggled with Pearman for control of the machete, allowing his wife an opportunity to escape to a neighbor’s house and call police.

While the wife was at the neighbors calling the police, her husband continued to struggle for his life inside the home, with the suspect demanding the couple’s valuables and still wielding the machete.

The victim said Pearman eventually left the residence without taking anything. The husband then retrieved his handgun, caught up with the suspect and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Pearman has been charged with burglary and robbery and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $180,000.

Being armed allowed this homeowner to hold this home invader at bay until the police arrived but determination and the will to survive is what kept him alive. Never give up! Never Give in! Survive at all cost!! Criminals don't want opponents; they want VICTIMS! REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM!
